Five Finger Death Punch’s “When the Seasons Change”

Heavy rock band Five Finger Death Punch released a new song “When the Seasons Change” last week honoring a police officer/ Army veteran that was killed in the line of duty. Charleston Hartfield lost his life shielding festival goers at the tragic Las Vegas shooting in November, 2017. Overall, The song pays tribute to all police officers and first responders around the world that put themselves in harm’s way.

The band has historically been a staunch supporter of the veteran and law enforcement community. They recently toured with Breaking Benjamin this past summer. In fact, the bands decided to extend the tour into the fall because of popular demand. FFDP has donated over $95,000 dollars of ticket sales to C.O.P.S (Concerns for Police Survivors). C.O.P.S helps the families of officers that have died while in the line of duty.

FFDP’s guitarist Zoltan Bathary stated some personal opinions about the treatment of police officers nationally. Bathary commented,

“Instead of giving you a typical quote about the music video, let me give you some data to ponder…Medical malpractice is the 3rd leading cause of death in the USA right behind heart-disease and cancer. Some research says an average of 250,000 people die every year because of medical errors. In contrast, Police Officers make an average of 50 fatal errors annually, that’s 245,950 less – and most of them are due to split-second decisions in high-risk situations. Of course, loss of life is always tragic but we don’t put all medical professionals on blast or call them names, disrespect t them and demonize them. Of course not. They’re doing their best and it would be just as ridiculous as the current, grossly unfair rhetoric against Police as a whole.”

Many in the entertainment world have distanced themselves from the national debate of unjust police actions. I personally believe that Bathary brings up an excellent point about the staunch comparison to malpractice exhibited in hospitals. Although, my opinion does not reflect his statement to the media.
